Actually my comment was meant for your previous entry - which I'd read a few days ago, but forgot it wasn't your current post....so yeah...I think I have fully established I do not focus well.
E - I wish I could lend you my Kerouac biography. After you read it, everything he's written makes so much more sense. I notice he's gone for 3 lines of 5 syllables in that one - a rebel to the end.
Nuke - I wasn't offended, I was just mucking around. I have about as much finesse with the English language as George Bush has with foreign policy.
Lividia - have a vegemite sandwich instead.
Some Girl - I've written the post. I just can't decide whether to publish it or not. It involves high levels of embarrassment. I'll decide whether to post it or not in a day or so.
Haiku is indeed Japanese, Treespotter. Some have argued that the "7, 5, 7" mode is not the most effective mode when applied to the English language. The Bush parallel simply illustrated my ineptitude as it relates to the English language.
I'm living and studying in Sweden. But I'm making a comeback to the world of blogging. I'm hiding all the old posts and starting anew. It's good to hear that you are still alive. You seemed to just disappear from the old blog; which, I admit, it pretty much what I did, too.

Ah, yes. How have you been? I spent a year in Sweden studying. Now I'm home. I probably should have blogged while I was o.s., but I think I needed a break.
Sweden sounds lovely! What were you studying and are you done? I've not blogged much either, breaks are good and refreshing though. At least I hope yours was!
I've been busy with school, I'm finishing my undergrad this July and then starting my Masters in Film Studies in September. I'm going to be one of those T.A's that stands in front of a group of kids trying to get them to discuss the merits of German Expressionism at 9am. Actually I might shut down my Livejournal account and move to Wordpress to start something that's more related to my studies.
Anyways, glad to see you're (creakily) back, I did enjoy your posts :)
Sweden was... for lack of a better word magical. It was cold and clean. It was the opposite of Australia. I was studying international relations in a town called Malmo.
I can picture you on your first day in the classroom. You'll have to make everyone wear a nametag and give a speech naming three things about him- or herself. There are far worse subjects than German Expressionism to be dealing with at 9am.
Did you get to experience the 24 hours of daylight? Or is that not the right area?
Also, I am actually deleting my LJ account- I'll be here now if you're keeping up with blog stuff : http://renukabauri.wordpress.com/ You don't have to, I'm just throwing it out there.
And you're right, I probably will make people do that cheesy introduction game of "tell me your name and favourite movie/director" - but it's a good way to get the ball rolling and waste the first twenty minutes of an hour long group class! I actually do enjoy German Expressionism and there are worse films to watch at that hour...like Titanic :P

i don't get the clever part.
Heavy on the quirky; light on the clever - the story of my life.
If you're going to play with the English language, you've got to have finesse.
I'll take that as a massive vote of no-confidence!
I am not a poetry fan, but I do love Haikus. They can so clearly capture a moment with only a few words.
Have you read Kerouac's haikus?
One of favourites is:
Came down from my
ivory tower
And found no world
i too love haikus, and i thought yours was rather cute... and now i want a meaty sandwich.

I *do* like the haiku!
sorry!
Wait...what happened to the "I went on a date" post?
(three word verifications and counting...why am I so disabled?)

i'm not a language expert, but isn't haiku a japenese thing?
i'm guessing using that bush parallel allows you to be flexible with adapting haiku into english?

Make that "5,7,5"
I miss your posts. Where are you now?

Hey, it's been a while. I was just wondering what you've been up to these days.
