- 2 days and I’ll be finished work.
- 4 days and I’ll be starting university.
I went to a friend's place for tea last night and, despite not thinking that I’d drunk all that much alcohol, I awoke this morning with a splitting headache. So I used misfortune to my advantage by playing hokey. I actually slept in a park for a few hours, and then I went and watched a couple of movies.

Hi DQ,
What movies did you watch? :)
Good luck with your courses. Remember to play nice with the other children and that they are more scared of you than you are of they.
Syriana and God Of War, Circe. Syriana was fantastic; God Of War was good in places. :)
I think you're probably right about that, Somegirl, I can look a little grizzly from time to time.
so, what courses will you be starting when the bell rings? what sort of reading will be on the menu?
best of luck with the transition...
and when you get a chance, maybe you can explain to us what is wrong with your peeps. fer real.

I'm starting an Arts/Law double degree. The first year of the course is made up of arts subjects, and the ones that I'm doing are History, English, Philosophy and Politics.
In answer to your other question, Livi, I'm working on a post right now. Suffice to say that, contrary to external appearances, Australia is a deeply troubled place at the moment.
to be fair, that statement could apply to any country i suppose. 'deeply troubled' seems to be the name of the river and all of humanity is swimming downstream. i am queasy just thinking about it (no wait, maybe that's the tequila. hmm. no, it's the world...)
those courses sound so broad (but the degree should be interesting... and it means you'll be using the products that line my bank account down the line :P)
I think the unique aspect of the Australian character is that Australians will always address any concern with "she'll be right, mate," or, "everything's fine." This has a tendency to hide problems down in the wee dark places where they can't be addressed - meaning that when they come to the surface they may explode like Mt Vesuvius.
Unfortunately conservative politics - or, wedge politics, as I'm coming to understand it - likes to pressurize those deep-seated fissures, stifling honest discussion of the issues, whilst all the time fuelling the lava, leading to an apocalyptic explosion. Just look at John "I'm not a toad; really I'm not" Howard - he claims there is no racism in Australia.
I wonder if I've already purchased one of your products. I bought a Descartes reader today. Yeah, the 1st year subjects are broad - but they'll become a lot more focused next year when the law subjects come in. I'll have to choose two of those Humanities subjects to drop. A hard decision I suspect.
