Marx Weeps

Traveling the halls of university today I happened upon a poster created by the Socialist Alliance, rallying support against the senseless slaughter occurring in Lebanon as a result of the Israeli military's actions.

The poster included the following statement: "US imperialism unleashes its attack dog in the middle east"

It must be a strange world that socialists live in, where lifeless nouns can unleash forces, canine or otherwise. I agree wholeheartedly with their sentiment; however their messaging needs some refining.

Full Marx, Don! Glad you agree with the sentiment though!

"Full Marx" - I like that!

that's really where imperealism reigns supreme: the message.

wait, is that wrong too?

Nope, that works (I think). You are talking about an abstract concept by describing it with an abstract concept.

I know exactly what you mean... The Socialist Alliance at my uni have some really good messages and campaigns for very worthy causes. But the way they convey those messages and carry out the campaigns is flawed, to say the least, and could be done a lot better. But obviously it's all much easier said than done.

I guess hiring a public relations guru doesn't really fit with their ethic; it would, however, behoove them to improve their sentence structure, especially seeing as their message is being published in the hallowed halls of learning.
